Taking pics is hard w/o my tripod..............(Just ran out and got new tripod) LOL.......

I lost my tri-pod. That would seem a hard thing to do, but I cannot find the dam thing. Shooting coin pics freehand is real tough.

This is about my best effort freehand and I am not real happy.

By the way what do you think of the dime?

I could not take it so I went to radio shack and bought a $8 tabletop tri-pod.

Same coin on the $8 tri-pod

Also here is a pic of said tripod.

Almost every photo I've posted here has been free-hand.
Now whether the photo's are good or not, that's up to you all to judge.

I like your Blue-Green Dime, and the photo's not too bad for free-hand.

Here's one of my recent free-hand examples.

Nice coin, a little blurry, but what do you expect with no stand. Shows color nicely. Did you adjust the iso? What camera you using.

    edited to add color comment.

Now you need to prop the camera up on a coin to take a pic of the tripod!image

That's the same Tripod I have. It won't hold the camera without falling over, so you still have to hold the camera a little bit. But it works for me.

I think it's easier to take pics with a copy stand

$8 quick fix is all I was after.

I will get a copy stand in the future.

  • I went into a local camera store to see how much a copy stand would cost and they had no idea of what I was talking about. I had to describe what it was I was looking for. Where does one go to buy a copy stand and how much do they generally run?

You can spend as much or as little as you want on a copystand. For a small camera (point and shoot) a cheap small will generally be fine. You will need to spend more with an SLR to get a decent one. They sell a variety at B&H Photo. search on "copystand".
